Bumble: More Than JUST a Dating App!

When people first hear Bumble they usually think “oh it’s just a dating app,” but actually it’s so much more than JUST a regular dating app and they offer other platforms like Bumble Bizz and Bumble BFF!

Bumble has three platforms: Bizz, BFF, and Bumble and they are each denoted with a different color.

Bizz is a networking platform where professional men and women can network and connect with each other! It’s as simple as filling out your profile and explaining who you are and what you’re looking for in your bio! Networking in person is great, but Bizz provides an opportunity to network at their own pace and to decide who you do and don’t want to connect with!

Simply put, BFF is a way to find friends in your area! Fill out your profile with your interests, connect your spotify, and Instagram and start swiping! The great part about BFF is that you can see what others are interested in which helps the user know if their interests or what they’re looking for aligns!

Bumble is a dating app that feels secure and more reliable than some of its competitors. Bumble is a beneficial dating app because (if you both match) the girl messages first, the guy doesn’t have the ability to message first. The guy does have the ability to extend the connection with the girl which hints that are very interested!

Bumble is about women empowerment! The women have to make the first move on Bumble which gives them the power and helps to weed out those inappropriate not so welcoming messages.

Another benefit of Bumble is that you can verify your picture and see who else has verified their picture. To verify your picture, you have you take a selfie on the app and if the picture matches your posted pictures, you get a blue checkmark added to your profile!

Tips on using Bumble

  1. Fill out your profile completely. It can be daunting to take time to fill out everything, but it is worth it and helps make you look like you’re serious in finding your match! Plus, the more they know about you, the easier it can be to maintain a conversation.

  2. Don’t be afraid to reach out! The only way to start the conversation is if the woman messages first! Bumble even has preset conversation options that you can send out, so it makes it even easier to send. It can be intimidating, but the worst that can happen is that they don’t respond and that means they weren’t meant to be!

  3. Know when to keep talking and when to CUT IT LOOSE. If a person is only responding in one word answers and doesn’t ever ask you about yourself chances are the conversation won’t lead to anything other than that. There’s nothing wrong with saying you’re not interested or unmatching!

  4.  Acknowledge something on their profile. Starting out a conversation based on a fact or song listed on their profile is a good way to show you read it and you care about their interests! Bumble let’s you fill out a bunch of questions that show up on your profile like your religion, if/how many children, how frequently you drink, etc. It even lets you connect your spotify.

  5. Read their profile before you swipe. It can be tempting to swipe left or right without reading anything about the person, BUT chances are if they have a more in depth profile, they are looking for a real connection and it helps you to know if they have the same interests and if it is a conversation worth starting!

  6. Be smart about meeting up! This one should go without saying, but it is always smart to meet for the first time in a public place and let a friend know where and when you will be there! For more tips on how to stay safe online dating, visit this article from Bumble and RAINN.

Bumble is free to download and use! It doesn’t take long to fill out your interests, bio, connect you Spotify and Instagram, add some of your favorite pictures and then you can start finding your match! You can also follow them on social media at @bumblebizz, @bumblebff, and @bumble -- they post quirky and motivating content on each platform!
